Nassara Women Initiative

10th Anniversary Celebration of NASSARA Women Initiative Multipurpose Cooperative Society (NWIMCS)

On Saturday, October 19, 2024, the NASSARA Women Initiative Multipurpose Cooperative Society (NWIMCS) celebrated its 10th annual conference and anniversary at the Methodist Church Nigeria, Cathedral of Unity, Wuse, Abuja. This milestone event brought together members and guests to reflect on a decade of empowering women and building a strong community.

The event featured a keynote speech by Mrs. Bunmi Elewoyori, President of NWIMCS, who highlighted the cooperative's journey over the past ten years. She passionately discussed the organization's mission to empower women economically and socially, enabling them to build sustainable businesses and contribute to their communities. Mrs. Elewoyori also reaffirmed the cooperative's commitment to continue fostering a network of women supporting women in various sectors.

Two insightful lectures enriched attendees. Mrs. Gracetiti Fredson, Acting General Manager, Contracts & Procurement at Neconde Energy Limited delivered the first.

Her talk centered around the role of women in the energy sector, the importance of inclusivity, and the growing opportunities for women to rise in traditionally male-dominated industries like oil and gas. She encouraged the attendees to explore new career paths and assured them of the cooperative’s support in breaking barriers.

Dr. Peter Ayim, Principal Consultant and CEO of MSME Business Development Services Limited, followed with an engaging lecture on "Building Sustainable Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs)".

He emphasized practical strategies for scaling businesses, financial discipline, and how cooperatives like NWIMCS can act as catalysts for success among women-led businesses. His session was both educational and motivational, providing actionable insights for the women entrepreneurs present.

One of the highlights of the event was the panel discussion on Women's Health, focusing on premenopausal and menopause stages, as well as family planning. The session, led by Mrs. Ayoade Adeosun, featured panelists Dr. Rejoice Luka-Lawal, and Mrs. Ogechi Nwachukwu who works as a Nurse and Midwife. They provided valuable insights into managing health transitions and making informed family planning decisions.

To honor its longstanding members, NWIMCS presented Pioneer Awards and gifts to key members who joined in 2015 and 2016. Mrs. Olubusola Matthews, Mrs. Eleojo Idakwo, Mrs. Ayoade Adeosun, Mrs. Susan Aturu, and Mrs. Patience Ejiga were recognized for their contributions to the cooperative’s success and growth.

The anniversary also marked NWIMCS’s commitment to corporate social responsibility, with a generous donation to Shelter for Girls Foundation and welfare support extended to a cooperative member in need.

The event concluded with a sense of pride and accomplishment as attendees celebrated NWIMCS's milestones, exchanged ideas, and reaffirmed their commitment to economic empowerment and mutual support.
